Principles and Practices of Financial Management
This document describes the governance procedures surrounding the financial management of the With-Profit Fund of Winterthur Life UK Limited ("the Firm"). All companies carrying on with-profit business are required by the Financial Services Authority ("the FSA") to define and make available their Principles and Practices of Financial Management ("the PPFM"). Please note that only the boxed paragraphs in section B of this document shall constitute the PPFM for the With-Profit Fund of the Firm. The other sections within this document have been included with the sole intention of clarifying the PPFM section and do not form part of those Principles or Practices, save to the extent that terms in the Glossary are incorporated in a Principle or Practice.
The aims of the PPFM are to:
- Inform policyholders and potential policyholders of the material risks and rewards from effecting and maintaining a with-profit policy; and
- Set out the key features of the management of Winterthur’s with-profit business, including relevant discretions and constraints and any issues which have (or it is reasonably foreseeable may have) a significant impact on such management.
